Burlap&Lace Wreath

I had seen this burlap and lace mix before so I decided to make my own version of it. I first made the core of my wreath with a pool noodle that I bought from a Dollar Store. I wrapped it with twine making sure it was very sturdy, then started making these burlap flowers in two tones. Then I put all pieces together and my first burlap/lace wreath came out and I can't wait to make another one.

Another tree in needle felting. I made this one using Artfelt paper and sari silk.
The picture doesn't show the texture and shine I got with this silk. Love it. :)

Needle felting Tree

"Not only are trees essential for life, but as the longest living species on earth, they give us a link between the past, present and future." This is a 12x12" needle felting painting, made with Merino wool, Mohair and Ramie fibers. It is going to be hung on our dining room.

FELTING.... what is that??

Handmade Felting is the process of manipulating fibers until they matt and then shrinking the fabric to make the fibers lock together. Handmade felt is typically made in one of two ways: it is either made through the wet felting process, which involves wetting the fibers and agitating them until they have locked together to form a sturdy cloth or through needle felting. Needle felting uses a special needle or set of needles to blend the fibers together.

Wet felting can be done with animal fibers such as wool, whereas needle felting can produce felt from any fiber. All Fatima’s pieces are made with these techniques. She will be happy to answer any question about her work.
